The intricate relationship between norms and deviance Just as I was telling my dear friend about my perception of blogging and little things that had happened, the concept of norms and deviance that I have learnt in sociology came to my mind. As people define what the norm is, the ones that fall out of this boundary becomes the deviant. The existence of deviant then acts to further reinforce the boundary and definition of a norm... Similiar to our usual/daily experiences, it is after we see what we think is "wrong" that our individual perception of "right" is formed or fortified. Sounds like a chicken and egg story..Had this incident not happened, I would not have started defining what a blog is.. It sets your mind thinking... Posted by dew at |
