Finally!- the official start of the road trip down south. Day 4: 9th Apr, 2007 Moving from Auckland to Whitianga~ the guys decided to take the coastal highway to take a glimpse of the beautiful scenery. it was certainly an enjoyable journey for the girls who were taking the backseats but it wasnt exactly so for mosey and hk. the utterly long winding road, tight turns and ever-changing speed limits proved to be a little too overwhelming for our beloved driver, hk, and the narrow roads were too scary for our dear mosey, the navigator. he was trying very hard not to look down the cliff that was right beside him. hehe. scared scared huh mosey. some photos taken along the way.     the first cow that doesnt look like a black dot from where i were.  the stopover was made at Coromandel for lunch before we switched driver and move on. we had fish and chips for lunch and the nz's pricing theory is definitely bizarre. 10 bucks for fish and chips with 2 eggs and 2.50 for each extra piece of fish. so the chips and 2 eggs effectively costs 7.50?! hmm. oh, things do not necessarily get cheaper if you buy in bulk in nz as well. a few small packets of rice that make up 10 kg can be cheaper than one big pack of 10kg. what on earth is the producer thinking about. it was a pleasant surprise when we arrived at our first motel stay at Whitianga - the beach motel. contrary to the sleazy and rundown motels that we relate to, motel in nz is more like a small landed housing unit that accommodates temporary occupancy. tada! the two units that we have rented! so pretty! it has everything too (except washing machine)! microwave, stove, cutlery, plates, radio cum alarm, fridge, nice and decent toilet, dining table and a tv! woohOO!! see how happy the three of them were. haha.  the surrounding units  the girls' room.  fantastic toilet.  ron posing with our tv and dining table. hehe.  we headed out to the supermarket and the hotwater beach soon after we checked into the motel. a race against time! just before we had to be confined to our house after the sun set. i must say the hotwater beach looked really pretty against the sun set. i probably didnt do justice to this with my photography skills.  supposedly, we would have to either bring or rent a spade in order to dig our own hole to enjoy the hotwater like everyone else. however, the arrival at 5ish was a bad timing since stores in nz always close on the dot. anways, we figured out that we could use the pools left behind by others since we merely wanted to soak our feet. haha. the water was very hot! especially in some random and unexpected areas. poof. my feet was almost cooked! haha! our feet!! can you figure out which pair belongs to me? wahahaha.  got it right?..yes, it is that chao da pair! with slippers tan! what the hell! hahhaha!! this is so ridiculous..two of them actually belonged to the guys somemore. feet as big as a guy's, hands about the same size as guy's (bigger than mosey's!??!!) and feet darker than them as well. sad case. the hotwater pools     AND...cooking time!!! so happy!!! i finally get to cook for the first time i am here!! soup soup soup soup soup!!! i want to drink soup!!! why the hostel not have stoves?!! sigh. bin in action! (fat arms can..sigh sigh sigh)  our end products!! stragnoff by ron, veg and rice by liling and onion egg omelette and abc soup by me ;)  it took us approximately 1.5hrs to cook but everything was wiped out in 15-20 minutes! 5 hungry ghosts! hahah!! and i was said to be quiet for quite a while since i was all focused on my food. wahahaha!! food was damn good! yummy pasta and veg!! woohoo!!! (die..i am hungry now~?! bad news at 1:33am..faints)
